Description
Sourcebooks is looking for a Publicity and Events Manager – Children’s Books to own and elevate the events program for its authors. This is a high-visibility role at the intersection of author relations, bookseller partnerships, media outreach, and program strategy, and it reports directly to the Executive Director of Marketing, Sourcebooks Kids.

This an exempt salaried position with a range of $70,000 - $80,000. We determine starting pay based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education. This process ensures a fair and competitive salary that aligns with both the company and the candidate’s qualifications.
The location for this position can be hybrid in New York or Naperville, Illinois or remote based in any of the following states: Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin.
What You'll Own:
- Develop and execute events strategy for Sourcebooks Kids authors, from intimate bookstore signings to book festivals and large-scale multi-author events.
- Manage full event logistics: venue outreach, booking confirmation, travel coordination, data entry, and author/team communication.
- Direct PR and social strategy for events; craft pitches, secure media coverage, and design event graphics and assets.
- Report on event outcomes including attendance, on-site sales, and week-over-week Bookscan POS data.
- Lead strategy and execution of new initiatives and programming such as an author school visits program.
Requirements
- 3+ Experience in book publicity, marketing and author events, a closely related field.
- Proven track record building relationships with booksellers, media, or event venues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You know how to pitch and how to follow through.
- Comfort managing multiple events and timelines simultaneously without dropping details.
- Familiarity with tools and platforms used in book marketing (Bookscan, Monday, social media, design tools like Canva a plus).
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to work across teams, imprints, and personalities.
- Genuine enthusiasm for children's books and the authors!
