Description
Publishers Weekly, the international news platform of the book publishing industry, and BookLife Reviews, PW’s home for paid reviews of independent authors, are looking for freelance book reviewers to cover independent and self-published books. Ideal candidates will have well-rounded interests and feel comfortable reviewing books in more than one of the following genres:
Self-published works
General Fiction (literary and/or commercial fiction and international literature) and Nonfiction
Business/Finance
Romance
Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror
Self-Help
Spirituality/Inspiration
Mystery/Thriller
Poetry
Memoir
YA/Middle Grade and Picture books.
BookLife pays an honorarium of $25-$75 per review.
Publishers Weekly, familiarly known in the book world as PW and “the bible of the book business,” is a weekly news magazine focused on the international book publishing business running for 150 years. It offers feature articles and news on all aspects of the book business, bestsellers lists in a number of categories, and industry statistics, but its best known service is pre-publication book reviews, of which it publishes more than 8,500 per year. BookLife Reviews is PW’s home for paid, professional reviews of independent and self-published books. The BookLife Prize is an annual writing competition in two Contests (Fiction and Nonfiction) sponsored by BookLife and Publishers Weekly.

Job Requirements
Book enthusiasts with an education and a background in specific areas preferred, though all are welcome to apply. Ideal applicants should have a keen eye for sensitive content and assessing stereotypes and be able to meet deadlines.

(Please look at published PW reviews for editorial formatting examples. Previously written reviews not following the guidelines will not be accepted.) Use the email subject heading "BookLife Reviewing:" followed by the categories you are interested in. For example, "BookLife Reviewing: Nonfiction, Mystery/Thriller." Applications submitted any other way or missing materials will not be considered. Members of diverse communities are highly encouraged to apply.
