About the Role & Company:
Midas Communications LLC is seeking a Account Director role with expertise in books and publishing. We are looking for someone who can start on or around August 3, 2026.
Midas Communications is a boutique books and cultural agency with a small team based in both New York City and Boston. Midas Communications is a subsidiary of the parent company in London named The Midas Group. Overall, The Midas Group is a team of 30 people working with clients who span the Books, Culture, Heritage, and Arts sectors. Midas offers a menu of options for clients employing our expertise across PR, Marketing, Social Media, Publishing Consultancy, Literary & Talent Agenting, and more.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking an experienced and creative book marketer with a broad range of expertise accumulated through working across a variety of different genres and authors. You will be an excellent communicator, skilled at working directly with key stakeholders both in-house and externally, and with proven experience at delivering bestselling projects and campaigns from inception to measurable sales success.
With a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset, you will thrive in a creative environment and not be fazed by a fast-moving, non-corporate workplace structure. While the majority of your work will be focused on the world of books, you will also have the opportunity to work on an incredible range of arts, culture & entertainment clients spanning books, music, visual arts, live events, prizes, exhibitions, festivals, and beyond.
Core Responsibilities:
An Account Director will demonstrate leadership qualities, a nuanced understanding of managing internally both up and down, and be confident in maintaining and building strong client relationships, while growing the business both organically and through new business.
- Establish and develop superb client relationships, ensuring first-class standards of communication, service delivery and client satisfaction
- Oversee direct-to-consumer marketing campaigns encompassing digital and non-digital paid media
- Deliver successful organic and paid social media campaigns, from strategy to execution
- With the support of the wider Marketing team, produce professional-standard social media and marketing assets, as well as advertising creatives and corporate branding
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key influencer & creator contacts in the books, arts and culture landscape
- Represent Midas at book trade events in NYC and beyond, including industry forums, conferences, pitches, presentations and seminars
- New Business Development: Identify and approach potential clients across the arts, books, dance, music, theatre, museums, and broader cultural sectors, using a variety of methods including proactive networking, outreach, and market research.
- Pitching & Presentations: Lead the pitch process from initial contact to close, delivering compelling presentations and proposals tailored to the unique needs of each client.
- Market Specific Knowledge: Stay informed about trends and developments in the US Book world, and use this knowledge to refine marketing strategies and identify emerging opportunities.
- Reports to the Director of Marketing in London.
Compensation:
- A salary of between $80,000 to $100,000 – depending on level of experience.

Requirements
Marketing Skills:
- Proven track record in delivering bestselling marketing campaigns across all key digital channels & media, including content creator campaigns
- Has a deep knowledge of US market & audience targeting in different sectors / genres
- Expert at social media & digital trends within North America
- Adept at creative execution and messaging / branding
- Can direct and drive Influencer campaigns – from outreach to delivery
- Proficient at paid advertising routes & techniques
- Knowledgeable with the US book trade & retailer strategic work
- Ability at content creation is a real bonus
Qualifications & Approach:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 to 10 years experience in the book Marketing industry
- Shows awareness and sensitivity of the business’s needs to have a mix of clients that represent both profitability and excitement
- Ideally worked for a 'Big Five' or a major Independent Publisher
- Successfully handled end to end campaigns with autonomy & track record of delivery
- Accomplished across a wide range of genres – non-fiction a definite plus
- Holds a reliable contact network & is willing to use contacts for new business leads
- Proactive, accountable, good with people, and has an entrepreneurial mindset
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high achieving environment
