Description

Rizzoli International Publications, a well-known and established NY based illustrated book publisher of art, lifestyle, interiors, photography, architecture, is seeking a freelance Production Manager with circa 5 years of experience in realizing high quality illustrated books.  Great opportunity for a production professional ready to be more involved in the creative book making process from manuscript to bound book. 

Duties: 

• Working with the Director in compiling and maintaining schedules and estimates for a number of front list titles resulting in production of high-quality books, timely and within budget. 
• Liaising with various creative teams (one for each title) of freelance designers, editors and authors and external overseas prepress and manufacturing operations.  
• Working closely with all creative/technical parties in routing materials and seeing approval of materials color proofs and all binding elements.  
• Traveling to oversee the printing process overseas.
• Accurately reporting status of each book in weekly meetings with production team.

Basic Skills:

• Illustrating book publishing experience (4/color offset and bookbinding knowledge)
• Organizational and planning skills.
• Communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work closely with creative teams.
• A problem-solving attitude.
• Passion for Art and Design, Photography, lifestyle.
