Description

Rizzoli International Publications seeks a full-time Design Manager to work within Rizzoli’s editorial department.

Responsibilities include: 

• Reviewing initial layouts and specs with the editor, production manager, and designer to address technical queries and design-related concerns, to ensure files are set up to Rizzoli’s and the printer’s specifications prior to delivery 
• Working with designers and editors to troubleshoot and resolve technical design and production issues raised by production or the printer
• Completing flight check of all files before they are transmitted to the printer
• Making design corrections, mockups, or typesetting changes, if needed
• Maintaining an organized electronic archive of all working files sent to the printer
• Providing files for reprints and publicity requests 
• Designing keynote presentation for seasonal internal launch meetings
• Creating barcode files
• Commissioning and supervising freelance design assistance for editors as needed
• Attending meetings to provide design-related support for editors, production, and designers as needed

Requirements

• Ideal candidates must have design/production experience, and professional knowledge of InDesign (intermediate to advanced skills), Photoshop, Illustrator, and Keynote/PowerPoint.
• Must be detail oriented and able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to work quickly and efficiently in a deadline-oriented environment. Good communication is a must. Candidates should have a strong interest in book publishing, and prior publishing experience is preferred.
